Celebrating International Credit Union Day: October 21, 2021
Since 1948, International Credit Union Day has been celebrated annually on the third Thursday of October. This year’s theme, “Building Financial Health for a Brighter Tomorrow”, celebrates 73 years of the worldwide credit union movement, its history and achievements.
What does it mean to be a part of a credit union?
As a member, you’re an owner and have a say in the direction of the credit union. You’re part of a community; a community that has a vested interest in the well-being of the places we call home. Thanks to you, we’re able to provide financial solutions and advice that put people before profits while also supporting hundreds of local events, programs and services that are helping to build stronger communities.
How will we celebrate?
COVID-19 continues to impact our in-person events, and though our celebrations will look a little different this year than in past, it certainly doesn’t dampen our enthusiasm and appreciation of you, our members, who make it all possible.
If you can safely do so, please visit our branches on International Credit Union Day and receive a locally made member appreciation gift from our very own Interior Savings business members.
In addition, for our Credit Union Day celebrations we will be holding what we call our Day of Difference where Interior Savings Credit Union and Insurance Services employees get out into the community and roll up their sleeves to lend a hand with local non-profits. This year, some of our branch locations will be closing at 2 pm, allowing staff to head out into the community to volunteer or perform random acts of kindness. Other locations will remain open for service and instead provide a $500 donation to a local non-profit. Our Member Service Centre will be open regular hours until 6:00PM.
