REBUILDING MERRITT TOGETHER

As a credit union serving the Merritt and area community, we have many staff and members who have been deeply impacted by recent floods.  We know everyone will do what they can to help their neighbours through this difficult time, and we want to do our part.

For any member experiencing unexpected costs or disruption to income as a result of the recent floods, there may be options available that will lighten the burden. While our Merritt Branch and Insurance Office remain under evacuation order, we are encouraging impacted members to visit any of our other branches or to call our Member Service Centre at 1-855-220-2580 to discuss how we may be able to help.

We know it is going to be a long road to recovery for our community and we are deeply grateful to emergency services, our amazing community partners, and to the hundreds upon hundreds of people who have been donating and volunteering their time.

To help in the recovery efforts, Interior Savings will be donating $45,000 to:

  • Launch a new local initiative with the Merritt Branch of the Thompson-Nicola Regional Library that will loan out tablets and hotspots at no charge, ensuring all residents are able to access the services and supports they need at this trying time.
  • Support the United Way who is working with local agencies to provide food, water, blankets, clothes, and other desperately needed supports in our region.
  • Support the Nicola Valley Food Bank as they respond to this unprecedented need.
  • Support the Red Cross as they work alongside ESS centres to help those impacted while also partnering with the Canadian Armed Forces to mobilize supplies such as clean up kits and PPE.

As the citizens of Merritt begin to move back in, we will be right there alongside them, with drinking water, wheelbarrows, shovels, and cleaning supplies to share* and financial assistance where needed.

Together, we will rebuild and come back stronger than ever.
